Sound off!No Comments
Severe weather has become the norm in Northern Arizona over the last week. The National Weather Service has been posting several Alerts per day, including severe thunderstorms, hail storms, flood watches, and even tornado warnings. Last Saturday, I went for a walk at the wrong time and found myself near the airport while the sky turned an ominous green-black. On the way home I experienced a lightning flash that seemed to come from all sides at once followed by an enormous crash of thunder. The concussion pounded my chest, but the bolt had missed. The rain came down hard and I walked home serenaded by car alarms all around. ~Nick

Weeks after a majority of registered nurses at Flagstaff Medical Center rejected a bid to form a union, the acrimony between pro-union forces and representatives for the hospital rages on.
In a cramped conference room in a downtown office building, an administrative law judge has listened for several days over the past month to arguments over whether FMC violated the National Labor Relations Act.
A finding against the hospital could invalidate the 242 to 211 results and force a new election.

There was no jury misconduct, says the jury foreman in the case of Harold Fish, even though the defense has argued to the contrary. The jury, says Michael Nelson, did not make a hasty decision when it convicted Fish of second-degree murder.Fish, a retired Valley school teacher and father of seven, was accused of the May 11, 2004, shooting death of Kuenzli. The two men met in the late afternoon at a trailhead in the southeastern portion of Coconino County. Fish claimed that Kuenzli and two dogs in his care rushed at him. The trial ended in Fish’s conviction in mid-June.
