The Arizona State Railroad Museum continues to add vintage locomotives to its collection. The newest addition to the Arizona State Railroad Museum was unloaded in Williams Nov. 4. The car, No. 1000, was built by the Pullman Company and is 100-years-old. It was transported from the Copper Basin Railway in Hayden, Ariz. No. 1000 is the first of this series of ore cars which featured manually or air operated dump doors. Last operated by the Copper Basin Railroad, it was donated to the museum by Jake Jacobson, President and CEO of that railroad. This is the latest addition to the museum’s growing collection of artifacts and archival materials, which is conservatively valued at $2.4 million. The Grand Canyon Railway graciously provided track space for the car adjacent to the Museum’s 1923 Shay locomotive No. 5 so that both can be seen from Interstate 40.
