Junior high football team has winning record

The Sedona Red Rock Junior High School football team improved to 2-1 in its inaugural season with a 41-0 victory Sept. 29, over visiting Joseph City Middle School.

In a game that was effectively decided in the first half by the Scorpions big playmakers, Clay Christensen got the scoring started early in the first quarter with a touchdown run, followed soon afterward by Micah Johnson, who scored the first of his three touchdowns on a 42-yard run with 2:26 left in the opening period.

A few minutes later, following a Joseph City punt to the Sedona 45-yard line, Johnson would take the handoff, break some attempted tackles and sprint to the end zone to put the Scorpions ahead 18-0. Christensen ran in the two-point conversion to make the score 20-0.
